Gall-Thomson Marine Breakaway Coupling
For maximum hose transfer system protection and pollution prevention at Monobuoy and floating terminals and other installations.
The Gall Thomson Marine Breakaway Coupling is completely self motivated and self contained, requiring no outside power source to activate. It eliminates the human element when pollution threatens as the result of a hose rupturing by providing a controlled parting point and spill shut off to a customer’s exact requirements.
When fitted in a hose string, the coupling provides an identified “safety fuse”, pre-calculated to suit the individual transfer systems’ operating parameters. A linear overload and/or extreme internal pressure surge, in excess of this pre-set rating, causes the unit to part, allowing the valves to close off the flow at a controlled rate to prevent a damaging line shock, or, where appropriate, instantaneously.

- Single point mooring, conventional berth mooring/multi-buoy mooring, FPSO/FSO/FSU and other offshore terminal crude oil, refined product and bunker hose strings, including reeled floating and catenary hose systems.
- Underbuoy and subsea manifold flexible risers
- Offshore and onshore service lines
- Subsea high pressure ‘live’ crude flexibles
- Well choke and kill emergency disconnect systems
Petal Valve Type Marine Breakaway Coupling
A device which provides an identifiable “safety fuse” in an offshore fluid transfer hose string and automatically shuts off product spillage, thereby protecting the system against the worst effects of an accidental overload during the loading/unloading operation.

Flip-Flap Valve Type Marine Breakaway Coupling
In cases of certain low viscosity crude oil and fuel and in liquid gas transfer systems, and temporary loading/offloading operations, a Marine Breakaway Coupling with "Flip-Flap" valves may be considered.
