Industrial Breakaway Couplings

Utilised in all industrial product transfer installations, the industrial Breakaway Coupling is specifically designed to be able to activate with a tensile force being applied at an angle to the plane of the coupling housing. Up to 90 degrees.

Typically installed into loading arm and hose assemblies, where at least one side of the coupling is attached to a rigid and fixed point.

Marine Breakaway Couplings


Our Marine Breakaway Couplings are designed specifically to be installed within a hose string, where the coupling would have a length of hose attached to both sides.

This coupling incorporates the same internal mechanism as our Industrial range, but has additional external features that provide increased resistance to torsional and 'bending moment' forces which may be applied to the coupling, preventing premature activation in the unpredictable marine environment. This is the only product on the market specifically designed to accommodate these demanding conditions.

Typical applications include ship to offshore platform, and ship to ship product transfer operations.

Full Bore Marine Breakaway Couplings

The KLAW FULL BORE BAC is the worlds first Breakaway Coupling to be specifically developed for service with dry powder, viscous, or abrasive media. Designed to be installed between two sections of hose the KLAW FULL BORE provides an identified safe parting point within the transfer system. Typically utilised for cement, bitumen, mud and waste products, this unit has a full unrestricted bore and is therefore pigable.

With all the working mechanisms completely isolated from the media until activation, the KLAW FULL BORE function is not affected by clogging or abrasion from the media and provides instantaneous 100% double shut off when a predetermined tensile load is applied.

Emergency Release Breakaway Couplings

On this range of couplings the Breakstuds utilised on our standard range are replaced by a collar release mechanism.

This arrangement is typically used on loading arm or hose assemblies, where tensile loads being exerted onto the arm or hose are minimised.

The collar is released via a cable, pneumatic or hydraulic system, which activates at a predetermined point before over extension of the arm or hose.

Cryogenic Breakaway Couplings

KLAW Products have successfully developed a coupling design that operates at cryogenic temperatures, down to -196°C.

Typically these couplings would be utilised for media such as LNG, Liquid-Oxygen, Ethylene, Propylene, Ethane etc.

Available as breakstud or Clamp release versions.

Non-Closure Breakaway Couplings

Available in both the Industrial and Marine versions of our couplings, the Non-Closure design acts purely as an identified safe parting point within the transfer system, protecting equipment and personnel.

With no internal mechanism these couplings are utilised when the medium is non-hazardous and spillage is acceptable.
